I have for a long time been looking for interesting industrial projects .... projects that make sense.
Åkrene Fjærfabrikk AS in Larkollen is a family business that produces steel springs to order.
The factory is run by the Edvardsen family with Jan Erik and Ellen at the helm. This is a niche business.
My idea was to document the production process - from the drawing board to finished steel springs. Production takes place by means of manual labor and to a large extent the use of manual machines. Long experience is crucial for the steel springs to maintain the desired high quality that the Edvardsen family wants to deliver.
The project resulted in the book "A Little Piece of Norwegian Industrial History" Åkrene Fjærfabrikk.
Moss Municipality has indirectly supported the project when I received Moss Municipality's Cultural Scholarship in 2020.
The book was Honorable Mention for Book - Documentery in IPA - The International Photo Awards 2022 Images have won Bronze in the National Competition 2022.
The book is now available for purchase through Ark Bokhandel Amfi Moss. Please see video clip below.
A big thank you to the Edvardsen family who gave me the opportunity to pass on the Norwegian steel spring production with the help of photos.
